Story

1. Background of the Problem

Phnom Penh is home to thousands of small businesses—street vendors, tailors, mechanics, food sellers, printers, repair shops, and home-based entrepreneurs. These businesses are the backbone of the city’s economy.

However, many entrepreneurs face major barriers:

  • Lack of capital to buy equipment

  • Use of old, unsafe, or inefficient tools

  • Limited productivity and income

  • Inability to expand or hire workers

  • High vulnerability to economic shocks

Without proper equipment, even skilled entrepreneurs cannot grow.

2. Impact on Individuals, Families, and Community

When businesses lack equipment:

  • Families earn just enough to survive, not grow

  • Children’s education becomes uncertain

  • Women-led businesses struggle to compete

  • Youth cannot turn skills into income

  • Communities remain trapped in informal poverty

Supporting business equipment creates immediate and visible change.
