Across the provinces of Kampong Speu, Koh Kong, and Kampot, forests are more than trees—they are life itself.
Families depend on them for food, firewood, clean water, medicinal plants, and protection from flooding and heat. Wildlife finds shelter in their canopy. Villages rely on the forests’ natural balance for their survival.
But these forests are disappearing.
Illegal logging, land clearing, charcoal production, and climate-driven droughts have stripped away thousands of hectares over the last decade. Villages now experience:
Water shortages
Loss of wildlife
Soil erosion
Unpredictable flooding
Declining resources for daily living
Without action, the communities who depend on these forests will face even deeper poverty and environmental instability.
At the same time, these communities hold the solution.
Local people have always been the guardians of these forests. With support, tools, training, and resources, they can restore degraded land and protect the future for their children.
