Story

1. Background of the Problem

The five provinces surrounding the Tonle Sap Lake rely heavily on agriculture for survival. However, farmers face serious challenges:

  • Unpredictable water levels due to climate change

  • Outdated farming methods

  • Limited access to quality seeds, tools, and irrigation

  • Soil degradation and declining yields

  • Lack of modern training and market access

Many families depend on farming for daily income, yet their crops can no longer support household needs. This creates cycles of poverty, food insecurity, and migration.

The need for support is urgent to ensure farmers can adapt and continue earning a stable livelihood.

2. Impact on Children / Students / Community

Agricultural instability has a direct effect on entire communities:

  • Families earn less, leading to child malnutrition

  • Students drop out of school to work in fields

  • Communities face food shortages during dry seasons

  • Women farmers carry increased labor burdens

  • Youth migrate to cities or abroad for work

A stronger agricultural foundation means stronger families and better futures.

The purpose of this project is to strengthen farming communities across the five Tonle Sap provinces by:

  • Introducing modern agricultural techniques

  • Providing essential farming tools and seeds

  • Improving irrigation and water management
